EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES POLICY STATEMENT
The Equal Opportunities Act 2010 states that it is unlawful to discriminate directly or indirectly in recruitment or employment because of the nine ‘protected characteristics’ contained within the Act.
To this end the company is committed to the elimination at all levels within the company of discrimination on the grounds of 1) age, 2) disability, 3) gender reassignment, 4) marriage and civil partnership, 5) pregnancy and maternity, 6) race, 7) religion or belief, 8) sex, and 9) sexual orientation.
The Equal Opportunities Act 2010 also makes it unlawful for employees to discriminate directly or indirectly, or harass customers or clients because of the protected characteristics of disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation in the provision and services.(Discrimination in goods and services because of age is not yet covered by the Equality Act 2010) however all employees should consider it as being included within the act and behave accordingly.
The company shall ensure that all existing and potential employees receive consideration appropriate to their needs, no requirement or condition will be imposed without justification which could disadvantage individuals purely on the above grounds.
This policy applies to recruitment and selection, terms and conditions of employment including pay, promotion, training and development and every other aspect of employment.
Ensuring that all advertisements shall state that the company is an ‘Equal Opportunities Employer’
The company will regularly review its procedures and selection criteria to ensure that individuals are selected, promoted and otherwise treated according to their relevant individual abilities and merits.
The company is committed to the implementation of its Equal Opportunities Policy and to a program of action to ensure that the policy is, and continues to be fully effective.
The company shall ensure that all existing and potential employees are aware of their rights and responsibilities under the Equal Opportunities Policy 2010.
The company shall provide the necessary encouragement, guidance and training to all employees to implement the Equal Opportunities Policy.
Any act of discrimination by employees, including middle management, or any failure to comply with the terms of the policy will result in disciplinary action.
This policy statement shall be reviewed annually
